Imperial Cat is the wholesale division of Cat Claws, Inc., which was founded in 1986 by Bill and Gale Seliskar. The company began with a single product, the Cat Claws Scratching Pad, which was developed after Bill, who owned a corrugated box company at the time, discovered that their cats loved to scratch the cardboard samples he often brought home.

Selling their single product through newspaper and magazine ads, the company soon expanded into a catalog of unique cat products sold from a warehouse in Des Plaines, Illinois. In 1993, Bill and Gale moved their company to Morrilton, Arkansas to be closer to family. All products are tried and tested with the company’s team of 30+ office cats, so they can guarantee, “Cats love ‘em!”
